China Quake Reduces Homes to Rubble

Houses were reduced to rubble and residents were in a daze at China's Qinglongtang village near the epicentre of a 6.6 magnitude which hit the area early on Saturday (April 20). State media reported at least 71 people were dead and 2,200 injured in the tremor which occurred at 8.02 a.m. (0002 GMT). Most of the deaths were concentrated in Lushan county where the epicentre is located. Water and electricity have been cut off in that area, state media said.
