Couple tells police 56 marijuana plants are tomato, pepper plants

UNIONTOWN, Pa. — A man and woman were arrested Wednesday evening after being in possession of over 50 marijuana plants in the trunk of their vehicle.

Carl Moore and Lisa Murray were arrested and charged with possession after Uniontown Police Department officers found 56 marijuana plants in the trunk of their vehicle.

Moore and Murray were using an abandoned home in Uniontown to grow the plants, but told officers they were at the home to pick up gas cans for Moore’s mother.

According to the criminal complaint, Murray closed the trunk but then allowed officers to look.

Murray told officers that the plants inside the trunk were tomatoes and peppers.

“They were kinda going with the story they were tomato plants and pepper plants, so they weren't too concerned with letting us look through the vehicle,” said Kolencik.
