Couple who put kids in dog cages giving up parental rights

A Pennsylvania couple who put their children in dog cages when they misbehaved have given up parental rights as part of their sentence.

Nicholas and Linda Chamberlain of Huntingdon County entered into a plea bargain Thursday, WJAC reported.

The deal requires them to give up parental rights to their seven children. The pair was also sentenced to six to 23 months in prison and a $2,000 fine.

The Chamberlains have been behind bars since they were arrested last summer, which means they have already served the minimum sentence.

Their parole officer will decide when they will be released.

The couple was charged with child endangerment after one of the children escaped from a crate and ran to a neighbor’s house for help.
