Missing hiker found in Fayette County

ROCKWOOD, Pa. — A hiker officials were searching for in Fayette County was found safe and sound on Friday morning.

Officials with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources had been searching for Jane Donnelly at Laurel Ridge State Park since Thursday evening.

On Friday at about 8 a.m., Donnelly and her dog, Zippy, were reunited with relieved family members and friends.

"I got everyone all worked up.  I'm embarrassed," said Donnelly.

Donnelly's dog was with her when she got lost.  She said Zippy stayed by her side,  keeping her warm overnight.

Donnelly was hiking with friends when she got lost. She said she didn't panic and waited for rescue crews.

"I knew eventually I would be found," said Donnelly.

The hiker planned to spend Friday relaxing and looked forward to a hot cup of coffee.
