Cubs fan still looking for answers 6 months after being slammed by Pittsburgh officer

PITTSBURGH — Six months after a Chicago Cubs fan was body slammed to the ground by a Pittsburgh Police officer, many are wondering when the case will see a resolution.

Soon after the October incident, an internal review began, but a decision was never ruled on whether the officer’s conduct was appropriate or not.%

“We were led to believe OMI would do their investigation and would have a determination in a matter of weeks,” Dimitri Mitalas, the Cubs fan involved in the incident, said in a phone interview.

According to the mayor’s office OMI processes most complaints in 30 to 45 days.

“For this to be dragging along with no indication of where the investigation is at is pretty frustrating,” Mitalas said.

The Citizens Police Review Board, which has launched its own investigation, said it is unusual for OMI to take this much time to make a decision.

Mayor Bill Peduto said he hasn’t been updated on the investigation since October.

“There’s never going to be a time frame for an investigation. It will be done as long as all of the different parts can get a few opportunities to have a voice in the investigation.

Mitalas’ attorney said they’re considering filing a lawsuit against the city.
