‘Disruptive' hospital visitor accused of making threat, assaulting officers

PITTSBURGH — A visitor at a Pittsburgh hospital was arrested Sunday night after she became disruptive, threatened a nurse and assaulted officers, police said.

Miamarshe Cole, 26, was at UPMC Shadyside Hospital when she became disruptive to patient care and refused to comply with medical staff, according to a criminal complaint.

An officer who was called asked Cole to leave the facility. When she refused, the officer attempted to remove her from the hospital and she tried to bite the officer’s arm and wrist, the complaint said. The officer eventually tried to handcuff Cole, who struck another responding officer multiple times in the stomach and legs.

Once she was handcuffed, Cole was escorted to the UPMC Police command center. As she passed a nursing administrator, Cole said, “I know your face. I know where you work. You don't know who you're dealing with. You don’t know who I know and what they’re capable of,” according to the complaint.

At the police command center, Cole, who was handcuffed to a chair, lunged at an officer, the complaint said. She also kicked an officer in the face and slipped her hand out of the cuffs.

Cole was later taken to the Allegheny County Jail. She again slipped a hand out of the handcuffs en route and tried to assault Pittsburgh officers and escape the vehicle, the complaint said.

Cole is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, resisting arrest and defiant trespass.
