Dormont homicide suspect turns himself in

DORMONT, Pa. — A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Dormont turned himself into police Friday.

The body of 35-year-old Chaz Robinson of Dormont was found Thursday in a woman’s backyard on Epsy Street. Police said Robinson did not have any connection to that home or the neighborhood.

Authorities said Robinson was shot Wednesday evening at the intersection of LaSalle and Broadway avenues and likely ran into the woman’s yard to hide from the shooter.

“That's my dad. My only dad. I'm not getting another dad. That was my best friend,” Chasity Robinson, the victim’s daughter, said.

Chasity Robinson said she can’t think of any reason why someone would want to harm her father.

"My dad was good to people. Everybody loved my dad,” she said. “I'm going to miss him, man. I don't know what I'm going to do without him.”

Police identified 23-year-old Timothy Bevan as a suspect in the killing. The Allegheny County police homicide unit secured an arrest warrant for Bevan, charging him with homicide.

He turned himself in Friday afternoon and was taken to the Allegheny County Jail to await arraignment on homicide charges.
