Dozens gather to remember toddler, grandmother killed in fire

Dozens of family members and close friends gathered Wednesday at Zion Church in Homewood to remember two lives taken by a fire.

“Even though they had 80 years apart in age, they lit up the room when they were together,” Brian Cook said.

Fond memories of 3-year-old Azire Clark Roberts were shared with a church full of people who described him as a toddler with a rambunctious personality who could captivate anyone.

His grandmother, 83-year-old Anita Clark, was remembered among other traits as a tough dominoes player.

. Investigators told family members the fire was ruled accidental, but the cause is still unknown and the details of the fire are still being investigated.

The family said they hope to have those answers one day, but on Wednesday, it was about celebrating time spent with two people who touched so many and who will never be forgotten.
