Driver crashes stolen SUV into Penn Hills house, 1 injured

Police are searching for four people who fled after the stolen SUV they were in crashed into a Penn Hills house.

"The actors inside the vehicle bailed out at the top of the hill, leaving the vehicle in neutral,” Penn Hills #7 Fire Chief William Jeffcoat said. “It proceeded to roll down the hill and right into the garage.”

Investigators said a Penn Hills police officer spotted the SUV Thursday morning and knew if had been reported stolen.

The people inside the SUV took off, leading to a chase through the community that ended when they jumped out on Park Ridge Drive with the car still in neutral, crashing into the house.

Investigators said a girl was injured and taken to the hospital, but her condition is unknown. There were no other injuries in part because the house was empty, but the house did suffer damage.

Of the five people who jumped out, four are still missing.

"The house is under sheriff's sale right now so all utilities were terminated to it,” Jeffcoat said. “We stabilized the load bearing support that was in there."

The fire chief said they’re still trying to get in touch with the homeowner about the crash.

No arrests had been made as of Thursday evening.
