Channel 11 Anchors, Reporters, Staff, Test 'Cookie Diet' Cookies

PITTSBURGH —

As a general rule, dieting is not a lot of fun. But what if you could eat cookies to lose weight and suppress your appetite?

Channel 11's Jennifer Abney recently covered a story on some local women who used "Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet" and saw results. They say the diet works, but how do the cookies taste?

I personally thought the diet sounded way too good to be true and wanted to taste-test these diet cookies. We ordered several bags of the oatmeal raisin and chocolate flavors and passed them around the station to get some reactions.

It was noon here at WPXI, and that means people will eat just about anything. This wasn't the case for Creative Services Director Karen Lah who tasted a chocolate cookie.

"I've tried lots of different diet foods and this is one of the worst. I can't even finish one cookie," she said.

Sports reporter Rich Walsh shared Karen's sentiments.

"It doesn't look or feel appealing. It's like chewing on foam," he said.

In contrast, Sports Director John Fedko loved the cookies so much, he asked to take home a bag.

"I like 'em! Not too sweet. It would be great with something like soy milk. Thumbs up!" he said.

Chief meteorologist Julie Bologna tried an oatmeal raisin cookie. She was also a fan.

"I could try this diet. I could eat six cookies a day! It's a little chewy. I could use some milk or water, but it's not bad," she said.

So what were my thoughts on the diet cookies? Don't expect your grandma's homemade Tollhouse chocolate chip. But, it's a diet cookie. It's not trying to disguise itself.
