PITTSBURGH —
The one-hour pilot for the show "Three Rivers" will be filmed from March 25 through April 10, according to The Pittsburgh Film Office Web site.
Dawn Keezer from The Pittsburgh Film Office said the Commonwealth Medical Center in Aliquippa, which declared bankruptcy and closed in December, also was under consideration, but the Brownsville facility, which closed in February, had the look the film crew was looking for.
The drama will look at organ transplants from the point of view of the doctors, donors and recipients.
Actress Julia Ormond was cast to play the head of surgery at the fictional Three Rivers Hospital. Ormond co-starred in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and has been recurring on CBS' "CSI: NY."
Actors Daniel Henney, Katherine Moennig, Justina Machado and Christopher Hanke are all rumored to be cast for the pilot.
"Three Rivers," was written by Carol Barbee ("Jericho," "Judging Amy") and will be executive-produced by Curtis Hanson ("L.A. Confidential"), who directed the 2000 movie "Wonder Boys" in Pittsburgh.
A call for local actors and actresses is listed on The Pittsburgh Film Office Web site.
Approximately 120 local crewmembers are expected to be hired.
