Pittsburgh Woman Contestant In National 'From Lame To Fame' Contest

A Pittsburgh woman is one of 54 contestants nationwide in the MGM Grand Get a Life Giveaway promotion.

MGM Grand is searching for the “lamest and not-so-thrilling” person in America, along with three of their friends, and giving them a weekend party of a lifetime Sept. 24-26.

The prize includes VIP limo services all over the Las Vegas Strip, a luxurious suite, personal concierge, faux paparazzi following the winner around, private dinners with top-notch chefs, poolside cabana at celebrity hot spot Wet Republic, cash for the casino, private booth and bottle service at Studio 54, spa treatments, a private helicopter tour of the Strip, and more.

See and Be Seen just chatted with Pittsburgh contestant Melana Johnson, 22, about her quest to win the contest.

To enter, Melana had to create a video about why she needs to get life and win the ultimate Vegas experience at MGM Grand and post it on YouTube. The public can vote for their favorite video through Sept. 9.

Then, the top five viewers’ choice videos along with an additional five videos selected by MGM Grand staff, will move on to a final round from which a panel of judges will choose the grand prize winner on Sept. 13. The winner will be revealed on getalifegiveaway.com.

See and Be Seen: What made you enter this contest?

Melana: I entered this contest because I thought it would be great to win a free trip to Las Vegas! I just turned 22 and this week I entered my senior year of undergraduate study at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Going to Las Vegas would be an amazing senior year trip! Plus one of the prizes includes free tickets to KÁ™ and I've always wanted to see a Cirque du Soleil show!

See and Be Seen: Why do you think you should win?

Melana: Like I stated in my video, I believe I truly deserve this. I've been working really hard lately. Going to school full time, plus holding down two full time jobs since I began college has been a struggle. I'm not bragging or saying that nobody else works hard; I'm simply saying that I have been going through hard times and it would be nice to win a trip and go on vacation.

See and Be Seen: If you win, who would you take with you on your trip?

Melana: If I were to win, I would definitely take my mother! She LOVES to gamble and would really appreciate a vacation. She deserves it more than I do to be honest, and she has never been to Las Vegas. As far as the other two people I can take... I'm still debating.

See and Be Seen: Are you proud to be representing Pittsburgh on a national level?

Melana: Of course! I bleed black and gold and I am quite proud to represent Pittsburgh, also known as The City of Champions! Go Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, and our new Arena Football Team... Pittsburgh Power!!!

See and Be Seen: If you could be any celebrity who would you be and why?

Melana: If I could be any celebrity, I would probably be Beyonce. Cliche I know, but she is talented, gorgeous, she travels all over the world, and seems to keep a humble and positive attitude through it all. I love that about her.
