Ambridge High School is performing “Seussical” this year.
“’Seussical’ is a challenge, both staging wise and especially musically. We decided we were up for a challenge,” said director Lora Oxenreiter.
Senior Kyle Robinson, who is playing the Cat in the Hat, said that ad-libbing is the most challenging part about his role.
“I want to keep the material fun, so I have to be comfortable with interacting with the crowd," said Robinson.
Senior Lauren DeBona, who is playing Mayzie, also finds her role challenging.
“Mayzie has to be pretty selfish and promiscuous. These are two qualities that I can thankfully say I lack. However, she does have a soft side, so it can be difficult to find a balance between both,” said DeBona.
DeBona has taken dance, acting and voice lessons for several years. Robinson has been involved with the Tamburitzans since he was in first grade. He has also been a member of the band and chorus at school.
Ambridge will perform "Seussical" March 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the Bridger Auditorium at the high school.
