Thousands Turn Out For Highmark Walk For A Healthy Community

 

PITTSBURGH —

More than 7,000 people took to the streets of the North Shore Saturday for the 6th annual Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community.

Participants took part in a 5K walk and a 1-mile fun walk.

Jessica Woiner, Karen Lah and Rob Johnston were on hand taking pictures of the walkers (and their dogs!) for WPXI.com's See and Be Seen.

100% of all funds raised by walkers goes to support the missions of 44 non-profit, health and human service organizations.

St. Barnabas Health Care System, DePaul School for Hearing and Speech and the Holy Family Institute were just some of the organizations involved this year.

WPXI was an event sponsor and several employees, including anchor Peggy Finnegan, laced up their shoes for the walk.

The event started and ended at Heinz Field were participants enjoyed music, food and fun.
