Family blames flooding on water main breaks, wants action taken

SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Shaler family blames flooding on water main breaks, and the family wants action taken.

The Smokovich family said the same line has broken a couple of times, sending water into the basement of the family's home on Schwartz Avenue.

The home is owned by a 96-year-old woman.

"It's scary because I'm old.  She's older, and we're trying to clean up a house that's got all this water in the basement and water coming through the walls," said the owner's son George Smokovich.

Channel 11 contacted the water authority in the area.  It plans to fix the main very soon.
