Family, police seek information in death of Allenport woman

ALLENPORT, Pa. — Family and police are seeking anyone with information about the injuries sustained by a woman this past February at Allenport Gun Club.

Suzanne Ritenour’s family believes that she was hit by a car while she was in the parking lot of the gun club across from her house. The family said her injuries were so severe that she never left the hospital and passed away this past weekend.

Ritenour’s niece, Tammy Dillion, told Channel 11 that she believes Ritenour was on her way back from buying candy for her grandsons.

“(She went) to buy her grandsons candy bars, and I believe she was hit by a car. They carried her across the street to her home,” Dillion said.

The family said they believe someone left her there with head injuries. They also said Ritenour had gone in and out of a coma before dying this past weekend due to her injuries.

“We just want to know what happened. For Susie, and for the boys and for ourselves, just so we know,” Ritenour’s stepdaughter Kathleen Ross said.

Allenport Mayor Bob Horan is on the board of Resa Regional Police and said they subpoenaed Ritenour’s hospital records after speaking with one of her grandsons, whom she was taking care of at the time.

“(We) subpoenaed the records of Allegheny General Hospital and found out that she had internal injuries, and she was hit by a car,” Horan said.

Horan told Channel 11 that they need more witnesses to come forward before someone could be charged, which he said could happen.

“I just want justice to be served. I just want somebody to step forward. There had to be somebody else there that saw what happened,” Horan said.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Resa Regional Police.
