Father, daughter accused of harboring Wilkinsburg mass shooting suspect faces judge

PITTSBURGH — A man and woman accused of harboring a man police consider to be a suspect in the Wilkinsburg mass shooting had their preliminary hearing waived on Tuesday.

Adrien Falls and his daughter Channel are accused of harboring Channel’s boyfriend, Cheron Shelton, when he was wanted by police.

Shelton was named a suspect in the shooting that left five people and an unborn baby dead. He hasn’t been formally charged in the unsolved case.

“Mr. Shelton had not even been named a suspect by the DA’s office until months afterward,” said attorney Randall McKinney.  “So to presume that Adrian and Chanel knew something no one else knew to hold him responsible for knowledge they did not have is unfair and we're looking forward to our day in court."

Shelton was also in court on Tuesday. He waived a preliminary hearing on gun and theft charges which came after a search of his home days after the shooting.

Shelton’s attorney claims the charges are unrelated to the Wilkinsburg murders.

According to a criminal complaint, police with into the Falls’ residence on March 14 and told them about the warrant for Shelton.

Police were reportedly told that the Falls have not had contact with Shelton.
