Fireworks set off before McKeesport house fire, neighbors say

McKEESPORT, Pa. — A fire broke out late Monday night at a house in McKeesport, near where fireworks were being set off.

Neighbors told Channel 11 News that the house on Grandview Avenue was vacant. It’s unclear how the fire started, but neighbors said fireworks were being set off in a nearby alley.

Cellphone video of the fire shows flames shooting out a third-floor window. Smoke was still visible Tuesday, as was damage to the siding.

Neighbor Jerry Patterson witnessed the fire and was concerned that it might also cause a pine tree in the yard to go up in flames.

“If that tree caught on fire, and they have a house right next door, it could be trouble. Luckily, it rained. Thanks for the rain,” Patterson said.

No one was injured.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
