A Gateway High School teacher accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old student pleaded guilty to charges of corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.
Franklin Vigo Jr. was arrested in October after a student reported to police that he had touched her “buttocks with her hand.” The incident happened in September in a classroom at the high school.
Vigo was placed on paid leave when the allegations surfaced.
As part of the plea, the Allegheny County district attorney’s office withdrew charges of indecent assault and institutional sexual assault.
Vigo was sentenced to three years, sexual offender court probation and was ordered to surrender his teaching certificate.
