PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh has been called Hollywood East because of all the television and movie shoots here. Soon the city skyline could also resemble Hollywood.
, a nonprofit wants to replace the large billboard on Mount Washington with a sign similar to the iconic Hollywood sign.

Scenic Pittsburgh sent a letter to Lamar Advertising, which owns the giant billboard, asking them to donate or sell the property,

The organization’s executive director said a sign similar to the Hollywood sign would be perfect because it doesn’t sell anything, it’s just there to “tell everybody, ‘This is a beautiful place and this is where you want to come and see,'"
Pittsburgh city officials have been at odds with Lamar over the Sprint ad on the former Bayer sign. Earlier this month, Mayor Bill Peduto called on Lamar to remove the ad immediately.
