Hundreds gather for annual Women’s March outside City-County Building

PITTSBURGH — Hundreds of people gathered outside the City-County Building downtown despite the wintry weather for the 2020 Women’s March Pittsburgh.

Many were holding signs with messages reading “Build Bridges Stronger Than Hate” and “Girls Just Wanna Have Fundamental Rights.”

There were a number of community leaders and elected officials scheduled to address the crowd, including State Sen. Pam Iovino, U.S. Rep. Mike Doyle and City Council President Theresa Kail-Smith.

A press release sent to Channel 11 said the purpose of Women’s March Pittsburgh is “to create space to promote equal rights for all including immigrants and refugees, gender equality, LGBT rights, women’s rights to control their own bodies, the environment, science, education and the importance of voting.”
