Hyundai Hope on Wheels awarded a $250,000 research grant to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC on Thursday.
Thursday’s check presentation and ceremony commemorated Pittsburgh-area children affected by cancer. The children’s handprints were placed on a white Hyundai Tucson.
The event was part of a campaign to honor National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
The campaign will generate $10.5 million to support 45 pediatric cancer research projects at Children’s Oncology Group member institutions across the country.
In its 17th year in the fight, Hope on Wheels will surpass $100 million in funding pediatric cancer research.
