Investigation underway after body found inside Jeannette apartment

JEANNETTE, Pa. — An investigation is underway after a man’s body was found Saturday inside an apartment in Jeannette, police said.

While authorities have not officially identified the victim, family members told Channel 11 News that his name is Khalil Parker, 19.

Family members said investigators found Parker’s body at an apartment on Clay Avenue Saturday afternoon.

Mark Taylor, who lives next door to where Parker was found, said he didn’t know anything was wrong until an ambulance and police showed up.

“I didn’t hear mush as far as noise or anything thing like that. I didn’t hear anything. I live right next door, and in fact, I didn’t know about the demise of the gentleman until I saw it in the paper this morning,” Taylor said.

Jeannette police described Parker’s death as “suspicious,” but released no further details.

Neighbors told Channel 11 News that Parker and the woman who lived in the apartment kept to themselves.

“He was a pretty quiet gentleman. I didn’t have any problems with him,” Taylor said.

Investigators told Channel 11’s news partners at TribLIVE that it appeared the victim had been beaten.

The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office said autopsy results likely will not be released until later this week.

Jeanette police and county detectives are involved in the investigation. Police are also looking to speak with Crystal Belle, the woman who called 911.

No additional information was immediately available.
