1 killed, another hurt in early morning crash in Whitehall

WHITEHALL, Pa. — One person was killed and another was hurt in a crash in Whitehall Sunday morning.

Whitehall police said the accident happened on Clairton Boulevard around 6:30 a.m.

Investigators said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene and a passenger was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital to be treated for her injuries.

The driver was identified as 56-year-old Raymond Riley, of Glassport.

Police said it appears Riley lost control and crossed into the northbound lanes of Route 51. At that point, investigators said he regained control, crossed back into the southbound. The car skid, left the roadway and struck a sign.

The 49-year-old passenger’s condition has not been released.
