1 killed, another injured in single-vehicle accident on Rt. 281

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. — A man was killed when the car he was driving crashed down an embankment along Route 281 in Somerset County Friday night.

Police said the accident happened about 9 p.m. when the vehicle, which was travelling south, lost control on a curve in the roadway. Investigators said the car then struck a set of guide rails and went over an embankment, where it landed on its roof.

A passenger in the vehicle was flown to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
