MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. - Police said they arrested a 13-year-old and an 18-year-old in connection with a robbery of a McKees Rocks store last week.
Authorities said three masked males robbed workers at Pierogies Plus on Island Avenue last Tuesday night.
After releasing surveillance images from the robbery, police said they arrested 18-year-old Robert Burton, of Sheridan, and a 13-year-old from McKees Rocks.
A third suspect has not yet been identified, police said.
McKees Rocks Police Chief Robert Cifrulak said the robbers targeted a cook who was preparing food for the next day.
“One of the suspects threatened the cook with a gun, and held the gun to his head. But the cook was unable to open the safe and they fired a round at the safe,” Cifrulak said.
The robbers then emptied the cash register, which had a small amount of startup cash for Wednesday.
Cifrulak credited the store’s surveillance footage in helping with the investigation.
“We received a number of calls, and one of the suspects actually came to the Zone 6 station and admitted that it was him in the video,” Cifrulak said.
Burton is facing several charges, including robbery, recklessly endangering another person and conspiracy. Investigators said the 13-year-old is facing similar charges through juvenile court.
