WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. - A Kiski High School student was killed in a sled riding accident last week.
Family and friends said 16-year-old Jenna Prussia died from her injuries Friday after the sled she was in with her twin sister hit a tree in Bell Township. Prussia's sister was not physically hurt.
Ellen Toy, Prussia's volleyball coach, said the teenager was a junior accomplished in both academics and athletics.
"This is just a tragic and unfortunate incident and you would never think it would happen to somebody who was out there having fun and enjoying life," Toy said.
Vowing to celebrate the life that she led, some of Prussia's friends gathered on Monday to share fond memories with Channel 11's Brandon Hudson.
"It's hard, but just knowing that she's in heaven is very comforting," friend Anna Collins said.
Grief counselors are expected to be available to students when school resumes on Wednesday.
