NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in New Kensington that sent an 18-year-old to the hospital.
According to police, Jordan Johnson was shot twice in the torso just after 5 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Kenneth Avenue and Catalpa Street.
As he bled from his wounds, a nursing student who lives nearby helped to keep Johnson alive until paramedics arrived.
“I just applied pressure and kept him calm and kept talking to him,” said Carol Schruck. “He was very frightened. He kept saying he was going to die,” she said.
Officials said he was conscious and talking when taken by ambulance to a helicopter, which took him to a Pittsburgh hospital.
Investigators said two light-colored cars are believed to have been involved, seen heading south on Kenneth Avenue afterward.
Police did not immediately know the motive for the shooting.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact police.
