PITTSBURGH - Multiple people were shot overnight in a shooting that police say occurred at two locations a few blocks apart.
Shots were initially reported shortly after 9 p.m. near the Uni-Mart on Brownsville Road in Knoxville, investigators said.
According to police, the rear passenger side window of vehicle in the store's parking lot was shot out.
The driver, a woman in her 40s, and front seat passenger, a woman in her 20s, were unharmed. The passenger's 7-month-old baby was uninjured but hit by broken glass. Paramedics treated the baby at the scene.
Detectives said about 15 minutes later, more shots were reported in the 200 block of Michigan Street.
At this scene, a 22-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his lower back, according to police.
The investigation has determined him to be an innocent bystander who had been walking from his home to a nearby bus stop.
He is being treated at Allegheny General Hospital where he is in stable condition.
Detectives believe two shooting victims who arrived at UPMC Mercy by private means are actors in the shooting.
One, a 20-year-old man from Allentown, was shot in the neck and is in critical condition.
The other, a 21-year-old man from Penn Hills, was shot in the leg and is in stable condition.
“It's getting worse and worse and worse, and that's why everybody wants out of here,” said a neighbor.
