MONROEVILLE, Pa. - Police in Washington Township said two women were pushed out of a moving vehicle during an apparent armed robbery in Washington Township, Westmoreland County.
Investigators said the incident happened Sunday around 6:50 p.m. on Valley View Road.
Officers said they were called to the area after someone saw an unconscious woman lying on the roadway. When police arrived, a second victim was found.
Police said the women were robbed at gunpoint and forced out the moving car by Matthew Bumbaugh and Elizabeth Lazabeck.
Bumbaugh and Lazabeck were later arrested at their home in Monroeville, and were charged with robbery, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
Channel 11’s Dave Bondy reported that investigators believe the victims knew their attackers and the robbery was likely drug-related.
"All four parties involved knew each other on a first name basis,” said Washington Township police Chief Scott Slagle.
The victims’ names have not been released. Bondy reported that one victim is listed in critical condition. The other victim’s condition was not immediately known.
