3 injured after being hit by car in South Side

PITTSBURGH — Three people were sent to the hospital Friday night after being hit by a car in the South Side.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of East Carson and 22nd Streets.

Emergency dispatchers were told that a woman was taken to UPMC Presbyterian with neck and back injuries, while a man, 18, was taken to UPMC Mercy with abdominal injuries.

At least one other man was hurt. According to his daughter, Federica Ridel, the car was backing up when it struck her father.

Police are investigating the crash.

It is unknown if the driver will face any charges.
