8-year-old boy with autism has unusual birthday wish; How you can help

PITTSBURGH — A local mother is trying to make her 8-year-old son’s upcoming birthday one he’ll never forget.

Ange Dellavecchio said her son, A.J. Greene, who lives with autism, has developed a huge fascination with clocks.

“I like the color about it,” A.J. said as he showed off one of his clocks.

Dellavecchio said her son wants nothing for his birthday but to cover his room in clocks.

“He just really loves clocks, they’re his favorite thing. He sleeps with them. He just carries them around and has this interest,” Dellavecchio said.

To help make A.J.'s birthday wish come true, his mother created a Facebook page (AJs Clock Surprise) and is asked for new or used clock donations.

“Help my baby boy’s birthday dream come true and send him one,” Dellavecchio wrote on the page.

According to Dellavecchio, her goal is to have 100 clocks to surprise A.J. with on his birthday, March 20.

“I thought for his birthday, how cool would it be to see how many clocks he could get from friends and family, then they shared it,” Dellavcecchio said. “It just kind of spread all around.”

If you’d like to send A.J. a clock, the address to do so is:

Andrew Greene
PO box 35
Latrobe,PA 15650

“It’s not just about him getting clocks, but about spreading awareness of autism, different interests and acceptance. I just thought it was awesome,” Dellavecchio said.
