After brief break, snow to return on Wednesday

PITTSBURGH — After a brief early-week break in typical Pittsburgh February weather, rain and snow showers are expected Wednesday.

Severe Weather Team 11 meteorologist Kevin Benson says freezing temperatures should be expected through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Tuesday's low will reach 28 degrees.

On Wednesday, a mix of rain and snow will develop mainly south of Pittsburgh and work north between noon and 4 p.m. The city will likely see less than 1 inch of slushy accumulation but Benson said along Interstate 70 a few inches of snow may accumulate.

“Light rain and snow showers will continue through the evening commute. As air temperatures drop, isolated slick spots will be possible,” Severe Weather Team 11 chief meteorologist Stephen Cropper said.
