Alleged victim speaks out against Fox Chapel doctor accused of sexual harassment

FOX CHAPEL, Pa. — An alleged assault victim of a Fox Chapel doctor whose license has temporarily been suspended spoke out Friday, telling her emotional story only to Channel 11.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, said she worked for Dr. Raja Chakrapani 10 years ago and that her claims of sexual harassment have kept her from getting another job in her field.

The single mother said she worked for Chakrapani as a medical assistant between 2002 and 2004 and claims that he sexually harassed her several times.

“To go to work every day and have him touch you in a sexual manner is horrible. I thought if I kept saying, ‘No,’ that he would finally stop,” said the woman. “He would touch me, hit me on the bottom, put his arm around me and try to reach too far.”

Her allegations are similar to what two of the doctor’s patients recently reported to police.

The woman showed Channel 11’s Brandon Hudson paperwork, including documents from her unemployment hearing. The papers reveal that she discouraged the doctor’s advances, Chakrapani’s office had no formal sexual harassment policy, and that she left because she could no longer tolerate the sexual advances.

When asked what stopped her from going forward and filing charges against Chakrapani, she told Hudson, “I was scared. He was banging on my door, saying I wouldn't get a job again."

She said she hasn’t found steady work in her field since leaving Chakrapani’s office, but is hopeful that Chakrapani won’t get his license back.

“I don't wish jail. I don't even wish that on my worst enemy, but that's where he belongs," said the woman, who also stated she would testify if asked.

Chakrapani is out of jail and is not allowed any contact with his accusers.
