'Black and gold' scrimmage to give fans sneak peek into Pens' season

PITTSBURGH — Hockey fans will get to see the Penguins in action at the Consol Energy Center Wednesday night in a scrimmage before the official season begins Saturday.

The "Black and Gold Game" is scheduled for 7 p.m. and is free for fans. Parking is also free.

The team will be divided into two teams to scrimmage against each other. Following regulation, the teams will play an overtime period and a shootout.

The season opener for the Pens is Saturday in Philadelphia. Channel 11 News' coverage of the game begins at 2 p.m., with a live pregame party from Latitude 40. Faceoff is at 3 p.m. and Channel 11 will be the only station to carry the game.
