Westinghouse Bridge reopens after several-hour closure

NORTH VERSAILLES, Pa. — The Westinghouse Bridge in North Versailles was closed for several hours Monday, causing major traffic delays.

Authorities were first called to the scene around 8 a.m. Monday when a 59-year-old man threatened to jump from the bridge.

Officials told Channel 11’s Brandon Hudson that after about eight hours of negotiating with the man, the bridge reopened to traffic just before 4 p.m.

The man was safely taken to an area hospital. No other information about the situation was released.

Traffic was rerouted around the bridge, causing problems for drivers for several hours.

“What can you do? There are only so many places you can go,” driver Sam Hrehoick said.
