Cold weather causes potholes, costs drivers money

PITTSBURGH — Cold weather is causing potholes and costing drivers money.

Tracey Yaksich ran over a pothole while pulling into the Giant Eagle parking lot on Pressley Street on Pittsburgh's North Side.

"Another guy was coming out, so I was waiting to pull in, and I hit a huge hole with my right tire.  I flattened it completely," she told Channel 11 reporter Courtney Brennan.

"The potholes are really, really bad.  The mayor is talking about the first and secondary roads with the salt.  We need to take care of these potholes," said Pittsburgh resident Timothy Freeman.

Yaksich filled out a claim form from the city's Public Works website and is hoping to be reimbursed the $164 she spent on the tire.

"I want my money back," she said.
