COLLIER TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Crews battled a brush fire and neighbors were evacuated from their homes in Collier Township on Tuesday.
From Chopper 11, smoke could be seen near the Parkway West and the ramp to Interstate 79.
“I grabbed family photos, some valuables and my dogs,” said evacuated neighbor Diane Ragaller.
Crews had a tough battle on their hands with the gusty winds.
High-voltage power lines and a nearby propane tank also caused some concern but that worry was short lived.
Once it was safe for neighbors to return, they said they hosed down their backyards to keep the fire from rekindling.
The fire was out by Tuesday night.
