PITTSBURGH,None - Demolition crews will try again for the third time to bring down a stubborn panel of the old Civic Arena's roof.
Crews spent all of Tuesday and Wednesday trying to collapse a panel of the roof that would not budge. They will attempt to remove the panel again on Thursday.
On Saturday, the first of the arena's eight ceiling panels was brought down.
“It fell perfectly,” Noralco Company Foreman George Boehm said. “It, like I said, floated down. It had a sudden impact. You couldn’t ask for a better drop than the way it turned out.”
Crews said they expect the entire arena to be torn down by May.
