Knoxville street without water after water main break

PITTSBURGH — A Knoxville street was without water Thursday after a water main break.

The 6-inch line broke on Zara Street.

"We are lucky to have heat," said resident Freeman Lidell.

Crews from Penn American worked to fix the break, shutting off service to more than a dozen customers.

"When I called this morning, they said it should be only 4 or 5 hours," said Lidell.

It took longer.

While crews worked on the break, the city’s Public Works Department was quick to address another issue of concern -- ice buildup in the streets.
