Aliquippa residents asked to conserve water after 2 main breaks in 24 hours

ALQIUIPPA, Pa. — Two water main breaks in less than 24 hours caused a major mess in Aliquippa Friday morning.

The first break happened on Franklin Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Witnesses said they saw water shooting up to 30 feet in the air.

Crews quickly arrived on the scene to get the situation under control, but hours later a second water main break was reported on Franklin Avenue at the intersection of Station Street.

Station Street is closed while crews work to make repairs.

The Beaver County emergency services deputy director has asked residents to conserve water. Any resident without water service can go to the filtration plant at 160 Hopewell Avenue to receive water. Residents are asked to bring their own containers.
