Target 11: Earn perk reward points by shopping online

If you like shopping online, a new rewards program could save you even more money. You can earn points by simply browsing through your favorite online stores. Consumer Investigator Robin Taylor explains how it works.

It's a new Web
browser called Perk.  All you have to do is download it and then shop the way you normally would.

You can earn points by simply going to a retailer's website, and then earn more points if you make a purchase. And you'll find plenty of coupons for some of the biggest names in online retailing.

The more you shop, the more points you earn. Those points can be used for rewards such as a Target or Starbucks gift card, and they can also be donated to charity.

Keep in mind it takes a lot of points to earn a reward.

"If you're online a lot and you're browsing a lot that's absolutely incredible for people like that because they're going to get rewarded for not even buying things, but being online and checking out different websites," said Audrey Guskey, a marketing
professor at Duquesne University.

Perk is available for Windows and Apple computers, but it's not out yet for mobile devices.

The only real downside I found is that you may have to wait up to 90 days to redeem your points.
