Falling bricks force evacuation of Pitcairn apartment building

PITCAIRN, Pa. — The partial collapse of an apartment building in Pitcairn Friday night displaced more than two dozen people.

Kevin Brown, communications director for the American Red Cross, said residents of the Young Hotel apartment building on Broadway Boulevard were evacuated after bricks fell off of the building.

About 30 people live in the building, 14 of whom stayed at a temporary shelter at the Pitcairn #1 Volunteer Fire Department overnight Friday, Brown said.

It's not clear when residents of the Young Hotel will be able to return home.
