NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - A Westmoreland County woman and her five children safely escaped a fire Thursday night that destroyed their home.
The blaze was reported at a house on Home Street in New Kensington about 6 p.m. Thursday.
Angel Wilson told Channel 11 News that she and her daughters were watching television when one of the girls got up to go to the bathroom and noticed the flames.
“She looked down the hallway and she said there was red in her room. When I got up to go look it was so hot that I couldn’t even get back down there so I put them on the front porch,” Wilson said.
No injuries were reported, but firefighters said the family’s cat died in the fire.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
