Fatal accident shuts down Route 422 in Indiana County

INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. — A fatal accident shut down a portion of Route 422 in Indiana County Friday morning.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials said the accident happened between Nolo Road and Route 403.

Investigators said the driver went off of the side of the road, lost control and went up an embankment. Police said his truck then crossed into the opposing lanes, hit a guide rail and flipped several times.

The driver was ejected and died at the scene. His name has not been released.

PennDOT officials said Route 422 in the area was shut down until noon while crews work to clear the scene.
