Fire breaks out at Homewood duplex

PITTSBURGH - Firefighters responded to a duplex fire in Homewood Sunday morning.

Pittsburgh Public Information Officer Sonya Toler said the fire started in a vacant unit of a duplex on Hale Street, but spread to an adjoining residence. Nobody living in the adjoining unit was home when the fire started about 9 a.m.

Hale Street is located about two blocks from the Pittsburgh Marathon Route. The fire did not disrupt the race, Toler said.
