MOUNT LEBANON, Pa. —

Firefighters battled flames at a Mount Lebanon home Thursday morning for the second time in a 24-hour span.

Mount Lebanon Fire Chief Nick Sohyda said firefighters responded to the Arlington Park Drive home Wednesday when part of a tree took down a wire.

“We were here yesterday during the storm for a wire that was knocked down by a tree. We left a note for the homeowner, put some tape around the wire and notified Duquesne Light,” Sohyda said.

Crews were again called to the home about 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

“We had heavy smoke showing from the first and second floors. Flames were shooting from the left side of the second floor,” Sohyda said.

Sohyda said the homeowners had been on vacation and returned home Wednesday night, but chose not to stay at their house.

According to Sohyda, authorities are investigating whether the downed power line had anything to do with Thursday’s fire.
