Channel 11's Gordon Loesch learned that a neighbor driving by reportedly saw the flames and alerted the homeowner's teenage son to the fire.

Ron Alvarado and Michelle Alvarado said normally at that time they would have been at work, but an appointment Friday had them driving by the home just as the fire started.

“My first inclination was to run to the house. I started banging on the door. A young man came down farther back. I said, ‘There's a fire in the back.’ He didn't realize it. He went back, and I said, ‘No, we got to get out of the house,’” said Ron Alvarado.

Ron Alvarado said the teen had no idea that the house was on fire.

Firefighters said the home was engulfed in flames when they arrived. No injuries were reported.

A Red Cross team is assisting the family members impacted by the fire.
