CHICAGO - Police said they found 20-year-old Nicholas Barnes in the room on Saturday after students complained of a strange smell in the hallway.
Barnes lived alone, and it appears his body had been in the room for several days.
“Just mostly confused and shocked that this could have been going on since February 7 or whatever it was and that we had no idea," said student Madeline Kowalski.
Students gathered for a vigil Sunday.
Investigators said Barnes last used his university key to enter his room on Feb. 7.
Police said they do not suspect foul play.
Barnes was a 2011 graduate of Shady Side Academy.
