WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. - A fundraiser was held on Thursday for a local police officer who has fallen on tough times.
James Pawling was diagnosed with late stage Burkett’s lymphoma.
The West Mifflin officer has been undergoing intense chemotherapy and faces a long battle.
Friends and colleagues held a fundraiser for his family at the Westwood Golf Club.
Pawling’s wife said the show of support was heartwarming.
“The amount of support we've had from friends and family … We want to extend our thank yous to everybody," said Kate Pawling.
Dozens of items were auctioned off to help relieve some of the financial burden for the father of four.
